Why we built this
ToolNest started from a specific annoyance: needing a quick QR code or a compressed image, and landing on a page that made you create an account, watch a countdown, or hand over an email address before it would do the one small thing you asked it to do.
The problem with most "free" tools
Search for almost any small utility — QR code generator, image compressor, password generator — and the top results are usually free in name only. You get three exports before a paywall shows up, or the "download" button is buried under an ad that looks like a download button, or the tool works fine but quietly requires an email address it will later use to sell you something else. None of this is evil, exactly. It's just friction that has nothing to do with the task you showed up to do.
What ToolNest does differently
Every tool on this site does the whole job, for free, with no account and no artificial limits. Most of them — the QR generator, password generator, image compressor, invoice generator, and both letter builders — run entirely in your browser using standard web APIs. Your file or text never touches a server, because it doesn't need to. Two tools (Email Writer and Spell Checker) do call a backend, because drafting prose or catching a subtle grammar issue genuinely needs more than a browser alone can do — and that's disclosed plainly on the Privacy Policy page rather than buried in fine print.
The short version: no sign-up, no watermarks on your output, no artificial caps on how many times you can use a tool, and no third-party ad network tracking you while you do.
What we get out of it
ToolNest doesn't run ads and doesn't sell your data — there isn't a hidden business model here beyond simply being a useful, well-built set of tools. If that changes for any tool in the future, it'll be disclosed clearly on that tool's own page and on the Privacy Policy, not introduced quietly.
Who's behind it
ToolNest is built and maintained as an independent project, one tool at a time, with an emphasis on getting each one genuinely right rather than shipping a large number of half-finished ones. If you run into something that doesn't work the way it should, the contact page goes directly to the person who can fix it.
No paywalls
Every feature on every tool is available from the first visit. There's no "pro" tier hiding the parts that actually matter.
Privacy by default
Most tools process your file or text locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded because nothing needs to be.
Built to last
No frameworks to go stale, no dependencies to break. Simple, fast pages that keep working.
